Right Toyota, Scottsdale AZ Cash Back Incentive Scam?
Watch out for shady deals at Right Toyota in Scottsdale AZ.
On Monday October 5th I was quoted a purchase price of $34,833
On Tuesday October 6th (the following day) Toyota Corporation released their $1,000 Cash Back Incentive on the 2010 Tundra at which time I confirmed with both Joe Mallo and Jerry Sees at Right Toyota that I could take advantage of this cash back incentive.
On Saturday October 10th I arrived to pick up my new truck and immediately noticed that the purchase agreement looked off. In fact the purchase price was listed at MSRP rather than the quoted price of $34,833. This should have been my first indication that something “shady” was going down. I immediately mentioned the discrepancy with Brad Pringle the Finance Manager and he informed me that he would correct the price to the originally quoted $34,833. Later that evening when I got home I noticed that the price on my purchase agreement was still off by $1,000, set at $35,833 instead of $34,833. I immediately contacted Mr. Pringle, Jerry Sees and Joe Mallo.
**This is when the run-around started… For the following week and a half I attempted to correct this to no avail. If and when I could get through to talk to one of the aforementioned employees at Right Toyota I got the complete runaround. “Call back tomorrow at 10am and we will straighten this out”; “I can’t change the price but Jerry can, he’s not in today”; “I will have to get approval from my GM and he’s out today, I’ll have him call you tomorrow” The best was when I would call and they would act as if they had no clue what I was talking about or what my problem was. I was asked to forward any emails I had with the quoted price etc. which I did and never got a response…
On October 21st I received a voicemail from Jerry Sees stating that his General Manager, Zach Ivanhoe, was “not going to do anything about this, it was a done deal and at the bank already”. Hmm, I called the day after I left Right Toyota and some how this never got addressed with the GM until the 21st? 11 days after?? Is it my fault that this was “already at the bank”?
Bottom line, Right Toyota pocketed the $1,000 cash incentive from Toyota Corporate that should have been passed down to the customer.
